About the Opportunities
Derby Aboriginal Health Service (DAHS) now has opportunities for a Registered Nurse - Child Health and a Midwife to join their team on a full-time basis in Derby, WA.

Registered Nurse - Child Health
As a Child Health Nurse, you will be primarily responsible for providing holistic primary health care services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in Derby and surrounding communities. Working within the clinic and in the community you will focus on clients from birth to 15 years of age, ensuring the needs of Aboriginal clients is being met within the context of their cultural identity and social circumstances.

To be successful in this position you will be a Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration and at least 2 years post graduate child health experience.

Midwife
As a Midwife at DAHS you will be responsible for providing primary health care services to clients, at the clinic and in the community, focusing on antenatal and postnatal care.

To be successful in this position you will be a Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration and at least 2 years post graduate midwifery experience.

Both positions require candidates who have experience in an Aboriginal Primary Healthcare setting. DAHS is looking for a candidate who can demonstrate a sound understanding of Aboriginal culture and the issues affecting health and health outcomes for Aboriginal people. You will also have the proven ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with ATSI people and a commitment to best practice guidelines/standards in primary health care provision.

While not essential, candidates with previous experience in a remote setting, experience in four-wheel driving, an Immunisation Certificate and/or previous employment with an Aboriginal Controlled Health Service will be highly regarded.
