As part of our friendly and supportive work environment, you will contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive and integrated range of evidence based, recovery oriented services across the multidisciplinary country Mental Health Service in Whyalla. Delivery care appropriate to the needs of the consumer and the local community, you will work across community, acute and rehabilitation service settings and will utilise and develop a combination of preventative, early intervention, therapeutic and evaluative approaches. These will include individual and family therapeutic approaches, group programs, health promotion and community development programs. You will participate in quality improvement activities that contribute to consumer safety, risk minimisation and safe work activities within the practice setting. Consolidating your knowledge and skills, you will develop in capability through continuous professional development and experience.
The Whyalla Integrated Mental Health Inpatient Unit, which opened in 2014, was the first of its kind for regional South Australia, providing 6 beds and allowing patients to stay closer to home. You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. You must be enrolled in an approved Mental Health course or hold a qualification in Mental Health practice. With demonstrated experience in engaging mental health consumers and their families in the recovery journey, you will bring the ability to work collaboratively with others, including as part of a multidisciplinary team. Effective communication skills including, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills will be essential.
