The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) provides care for more than 400,000 people living in the northern metropolitan area of Adelaide and boasts newly redeveloped wards and Emergency and Outpatient Departments, with plans for the addition of more brand-new facilities in the near future. NALHN provides a full range of high-quality medical, surgical (both elective and emergency), obstetric, neonatal, paediatric, mental health, oncology, geriatric medicine, palliative care and rehabilitation. Increasingly these are provided across a range of hospital, community and home-based settings.

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity is presented to work within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Registered or Clinical Nurse within the Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit.  We offer speciality mental health inpatient services in short stay assessment, open and intensive care units providing comprehensive treatment for individuals experiencing acute mental health illness episodes. The role is challenging but rewarding as you follow the journey of consumer recovery from admission to discharge. In a supportive multidisciplinary team environment, you will implement complex behaviour support for diverse client groups.

As a Registered Nurse, you will provide nursing services in health service settings. In this role you will develop from a novice practitioner to a proficient level of professional practice, consolidating your consolidate knowledge and skills to develop in capability through continuous professional development and experience. Registered Nurses accept accountability for their own standards of nursing care and for activities delegated to others.

As a Clinical Nurse, you will provide nursing services in a variety of health service settings which have been consolidated by experience and/or further study, developing from a competent to proficient practitioner. In this role you will accept accountability for your own practice standards, activities delegated to others and the guidance and development of less experienced staff. The Clinical Nurse role continues to be predominantly clinical in nature, however employees are assigned appropriate portfolios.

To be eligible for this position, you must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold, or be eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate. You must be enrolled in an approved mental health course or hold a qualification in mental health practice.
