In this pivotal management position, you will provide support to the Nurse Unit Manager in the leadership of nurses at the Port Pirie Hospital, Emergency Department. Promoting continuity and consistency of care in collaboration with other Nurse Unit Managers, you will contribute to the implementation of practice changes and undertake service management responsibilities. These will include performance management processes, recruitment, staffing, leave management, rostering, work allocation and attendance management; financial and supplies planning and monitoring. You will provide leadership across the Nursing Division in an After Hours capacity and manage staffing across the Organisation according to NMHPPD requirements and respond to sudden changes in staffing levels and patient activity/acuity. Utilising your nursing skills and knowledge, you will support and work collaboratively with less experienced members of the nursing team.
Port Pirie Regional Health Service has 95 beds available for people with an acute medical condition, adults and children, surgical, obstetric, palliative care and care for people over 75 years of age. Our hospital offers a high dependency unit and some private rooms. You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse/Midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. With prior experience in management and leadership roles, you will be capable of giving supervision to student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses. You will use your effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills to maintain a cohesive multidisciplinary team and resolve local or immediate nursing care problems.
This is a part time vacancy, working 24 hours per fortnight over a 7 day roster and salary will be adjusted according to actual hours worked.
Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Screening/Check and specific immunisation requirements.
