Overview

Ability Plus is looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to work closely with Participants and Disability Support Workers to provide and facilitate safe, responsive clinical care for our participants living with disabilities in their homes.

You will provide a range of clinical nursing duties including overseeing complex clients to manage medication, bowel care, enteral feeding, tracheostomy care, urinary catheters, ventilation, subcutaneous injections, incontinence, diabetes, seizures, wound management,. The role involves monitoring and monthly reporting of restrictive practices, clinical assessments and reporting to the NDIA.

This role is responsible for:

Supervision and management of staff providing complex care
Intake processing, conducting client care assessments, clinical care planning and reporting
Development and review of clinical policies and procedures
Staff training
Clinical risk assessment management

Eligibility Criteria:

Minimum of 3 years paid experience as a Registered Nurse – Community, Acute, Aged Care, Disability, Hospital in the Home, or Hospital experience preferred
Comprehensive clinical knowledge
Employment Working with Children’s Check, or willing to obtain one
Have a current, or willing be to obtain a First Aid and CPR certificate
NDIS check or willing to obtain
Current nursing registration with AHPRA
Current vehicle and Valid VIC driver’s licence

Highly Desirable:

Experience working with ABI, Spinal Cord Injury and Mental Health
Training and Assessment qualifications

Key to the success in this role is demonstrated ability in the below skills and experience;

Well-developed understanding of disability care provision
Proficient using Microsoft Office computer applications
Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
An outgoing personality, strong communication skills, and personable telephone manner.
