Disability Services provides valuable support to the South Australian community through supported independent living, Transition to Home, quality and clinical services, and the DHS Equipment Program. As one of the largest providers, we supervise and help with everyday tasks to support people living with disability to live as independently as possible. Our Transition to Home initiative facilitates the timely discharge of people with a disability from hospital into the community.

We also fund equipment and home modifications for South Australians who are otherwise unfunded for these services through Commonwealth options. Equipment and home modifications, as well as the delivery, repair, maintenance and replacement of items, is funded by the DHS Equipment Program.

The Registered Nurse is a role within Disability Services and is accountable to the Site Manager, Northgate for providing nursing services in an aged care setting consolidating knowledge and skills and developing capability through continuous professional development and experience accepting accountability for own standards of nursing care and for activities delegated to others, including providing the direct or indirect supervision of Enrolled Nurses, and Disability Services Officers supporting the delivery of competency-based training and assessment of health support tasks delegated to Disability Services Officers within a Delegation of Care service model implementing requirements of the DHS Disability Services Quality, Practice and Safeguarding framework.

  • Some out of hours work may be required. A flexible approach to work is required to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.
  • Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
  • Multiple roles available including a night shift position.
  • Staff are rostered to work for a 12 hour period.
  • Incumbent will hold and maintain a contemporary professional practice portfolio containing evidence of postgraduate qualification, learning and practice experience that underpins a demonstrable application of knowledge and skills commensurate with the level and type of practice expected of the role.

Essential Qualifications

Incumbent must hold a registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA and hold, or is eligible to hold, a current practising certificate and have completed a Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) approved program of study or the NMBA units of study for the administration of medicines.
