Overview

Becoming a valued member of the Nursing and Midwifery team, you will provide direct care to women and babies at the Gawler Health Service. Assessing women’s needs, you will plan, implement and coordinate appropriate service delivery. You will also provide health education, counselling and rehabilitation programs to improve the health outcomes of individual patients or groups. Working in partnership with women, you will respect and support their right to self- determination in the life processes of pregnancy, birthing and parenthood. Gawler Health Service provides a comprehensive range of medical and surgical services to patients from Gawler and surrounding communities including the Lower North and Barossa Valley. Gawler Health Service has two Obstetrics and Gynaecology specialists, a senior specialist doctor, and Midwives ensuring 24-hour a day high quality care. The Gawler Health Service is a Team STEPPS site, with 450-500 births per year and opportunities to work across the whole continuum of service. We offer the best of a country health working environment within close proximity to metropolitan Adelaide.

You will be eligible for registration as a Nurse/Midwife or Midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. With demonstrated competence in nursing/midwifery practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice, you will have effective communication skills including, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills. You will bring the ability to work effectively within a team and prioritise workloads whilst being creative, innovative and flexible in your approach to midwifery care.
