The RN4 Advanced Nurse Unit Manager Kangaroo Island is strategically and operationally responsible for the governance of nursing services delivered in the Kangaroo Island Community Health Service. The incumbent is also strategically and operationally responsible for the multi-disciplinary services provided by the allied health program including the inpatient, outpatient, centre based, early childhood and home-based services. The position is responsible to the Kangaroo Island Director of Nursing for the governance of nursing standards and responsible to the Executive Director Community and Allied Health for the management of all community health programs. The incumbent will use their knowledge and experience to provide strategic and operational leadership for Community Health Nursing, Community Aged Care and Allied Health services at the Kangaroo Island Health Service.

The Advanced Nurse Unit Manager will use their clinical knowledge and experience to provide a clinical governance model for nursing staff including the implementation, monitoring and compliance with nursing standards of care, ensure compliance with nursing registration standards, support the team leaders in identifying and managing poor performance, ensure service planning in line with clinical standards of care, describe and implement a community health nursing training plan and ensure that clinical supervision and support is in place for nurses and care workers employed by the Kangaroo Island Community Health. In addition, the Advanced Nurse Unit Manager will provide operational leadership to the Kangaroo Island team in the management and delivery of a multi-disciplinary range of service across the Kangaroo Island Health Service. The Advanced Nurse Unit Manager will facilitate the strategic and operational plan for the Kangaroo Island Community Health Service, including recruitment and selection, human resource management, financial administration, accreditation and risk management processes and information systems management.

The Advanced Nurse Unit Manager will be responsible for the oversight of financial monitoring of cost -effective provision of community health care services in line with delegated approval and for developing corporate team performance within a positive work culture in the interest of consumer outcomes.

The Advanced Nurse Unit Manager will initiate, lead and contribute to projects of significant scope and complexity such as capital works developments or major systems changes within Country Health Connect and Kangaroo Island Health Service.

Must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold a current practicing certificate.
