About the role:
You will support the Nurse Unit Manager in the leadership of nurses within the Operating Suite at the Kangaroo Island Health Service. Promoting continuity and consistency of care, you will contribute to the implementation of practice changes and undertake service management responsibilities. These will include performance management processes, recruitment, staffing, leave management, rostering, work allocation and attendance management; financial and supplies planning and monitoring. Utilising your nursing skills and knowledge, you will support and work collaboratively with less experienced members of the nursing team. Kangaroo Island Health Service provides acute services ranging from in-hospital care for adults and children by local general practitioners to specialist surgical, obstetrics, and outpatients. We offer accident and emergency services, acute inpatient and outpatient services and long stay nursing home accommodation.
You will be eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. This will be supported by demonstrated competence in the perioperative environment in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice. With prior experience in management and leadership roles, you will be capable of giving supervision to student nurses, Enrolled Nurses and less experienced Registered Nurses. You will use your effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills to maintain a cohesive multidisciplinary team and resolve local or immediate nursing care problems.
