About the Role

As a Nurse Consultant (NC), you will play a pivotal role in providing expert clinical nursing care and leadership within a designated team or unit. You’ll offer high-level support for individuals or groups, guiding nursing staff, and leading the implementation of key projects and clinical standards aimed at enhancing consumer care. Your role will see you delivering direct mental health care, ensuring high standards of practice, and fostering a collaborative environment to improve the overall health and recovery of consumers. Working within the framework of the National Mental Health Policy, you will drive positive outcomes and support continuous improvements in nursing practices.

Your expertise and leadership will be integral to the delivery of comprehensive mental health care, under the guidance of or in collaboration with a Level 5 Mental Health Nurse. You will have a direct impact on nursing practices, ensuring they align with policy and best practices while offering education, counselling, and group work. This will involve liaising with a range of professionals and organisations to ensure the best possible outcomes for consumers. Your contributions will not only improve individual care but also shape the development of standards and practices within the unit, ultimately driving the recovery journey for those you serve.

About You

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Nurse Consultant with the following qualities:

  • Registered Nurse with at least 3 years of experience and a Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage clinical change and develop staff skills.
  • Proven experience in high-level mental health nursing practice and implementing care plans.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with consumers, carers, and multidisciplinary teams.
