Overview

The Eyre and Far North Local Health Network (EFNLHN) is currently seeking dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join the Sterilisation Services team at Port Lincoln Hospital as a CSSD Attendant.

Whether you’re beginning your career in hospital sterilisation (WHA3) or hold a Certificate III in Sterilising Technology and are ready for more responsibility (WHA4), this is your chance to work in a vital support role within a professional perioperative team.

Key Responsibilities

WHA3 CSSD Attendant (Trainee)

  • Work under supervision to support sterilisation services across hospital departments.
  • Assist in the cleaning, decontamination, and preparation of surgical equipment and instruments.
  • Participate in an orientation and training program (up to 12 months).
  • Contribute to environmental and equipment cleaning in accordance with infection control policies.
  • Develop knowledge in packaging, equipment validation, and stock management.

WHA4 CSSD Attendant (Qualified)

  • Work under limited supervision as part of a skilled CSSD team.
  • Perform end-to-end sterilisation processes: cleaning, assembly, packaging, sterilising, and dispatch.
  • Operate, validate, and troubleshoot sterilisation equipment and machinery.
  • Maintain compliance with AS/NZS 4187:2014 and hospital standards.
  • Provide guidance to junior staff and assist with on-the-job training.

About You

For WHA3:

  • Willingness to learn, follow procedures, and complete structured training.
  • Effective teamwork and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of hygiene and infection control principles.

For WHA4:

  • Certificate III in Sterilising Technology (mandatory).
  • Proven experience in CSSD or perioperative environments.
  • Strong knowledge of instruments, sterilising methods, and safety requirements.
  • Able to work independently, identify faults, and provide support to other staff.
