Coober Pedy Hospital is seeking an Associate Nurse Unit Manager to help shape the future of patient care, foster professional growth, and lead our dedicated team of healthcare professionals. This is a great opportunity to experience rural & remote nursing in the outback town of Coober Pedy.

Your Role
As an Associate Nurse Unit Manager, you will:

  • Lead, mentor, and support nursing staff while assisting in the implementation of practice changes.
  • Manage key responsibilities including performance management, staffing, rostering, and financial planning.
  • Collaborate with the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager to promote continuity of care and ensure high standards of practice across the unit.
  • Supervise and guide less experienced staff, contributing to a culture of learning and excellence.

What We’re Looking For

  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years’ post-registration experience or currently classified as a Clinical Nurse/Midwife.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a team-focused approach.
  • Experience with quality improvement systems and knowledge of contemporary healthcare issues.
  • Experience in the supervision of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses.
