In this pivotal management position, you will provide support to the Nurse Unit Manager in the leadership of nurses within the Mental Health Inpatient Services in Whyalla. Promoting continuity and consistency of care in collaboration with other Nurse Unit Managers, you will contribute to the implementation of practice changes and undertake service management responsibilities. These will include performance management processes, recruitment, staffing, leave management, rostering, work allocation and attendance management; financial and supplies planning and monitoring. Utilising your nursing skills and knowledge, you will support and work collaboratively with less experienced members of the nursing team.
You will be registered by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold a current practicing certificate along with a postgraduate qualification in Mental Health practice. Demonstrating a high level of competence in community mental health nursing in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice, you will have recent experience in the supervision of student nurses, Enrolled Nurses and less experienced Registered Nurses. Effective leadership skills will be essential, including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation.
