About the Role:

The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network is seeking a compassionate and resilient Clinical Nurse to join our Forensic Mental Health Service. Forensic Community Mental Health is a statewide service providing supervision to those consumers on forensic licence conditions either through direct case management or through a consultation liaison role.

As a Clinical Nurse, you will use your mental health knowledge and experience and an understanding of the legal framework providing assessment, treatment, consultation liaison and advocacy services to a variety of stakeholders including other community mental health centres across all LHN’s, the courts, Department of Corrections, SA Police (SAPOL) and a variety of non- government organisations (NGO’s).

The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is a leading provider of public healthcare services in South Australia.

Community-based mental health nurses play a vital role in Australia’s healthcare system. With 1 in 5 people experiencing a mental illness in any given year, the demand for mental health support continues to rise. Various socioeconomic factors, such as access to services, living conditions and employment status, can influence someone’s mental health. This impact is not limited to the individual but extends to their families and caregivers. As such, a community mental health nurse’s role is to provide all affected individuals with the support they need. Join our Mental Health Community Team at NALHN to make a difference.

In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of delivering high-quality care to individuals with complex mental health needs within the forensic community setting. Your exceptional clinical expertise, critical thinking abilities and strong interpersonal skills will be invaluable as you collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive assessment, treatment and support services.

As a Clinical Nurse in our Forensic Community Mental Health Service, you will have the opportunity to make a profound difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals, fostering their recovery and promoting their successful reintegration into the community. You will work closely with clients, their families and other key stakeholders, ensuring continuity of care and advocating for their best interests.

To be eligible for this position, you must be registered as a Nurse by the Nursing/Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and hold a current practicing certificate. You must be enrolled in an approved mental health course or hold a qualification in mental health practice.
