Join our Mental Health team as a Nurse Consultant today!

About the Role:

As the Nurse Consultant, your duties include:

  • Provide clinical nursing/midwifery expertise to all nurses in the Older Persons Mental Health Service inpatient unit.
  • Provide direct, expert clinical nursing/midwifery care, select and implement different therapeutic interventions for individual consumers admitted to the unit.
  • Identifying hazards, assessing risks and implement, monitor and maintain hazard control measures.
  • Establishing, implementing and evaluating systems, which ensure best practice/evidence and patient/client outcomes.
  • Contribute expert nursing/midwifery assessment and advice to local clinical teams to achieve integrated nursing/midwifery care within a risk management framework.

To be successful in this role:

  • Registered Nurse and or Midwife with at least 3 years post registration experience
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet set timelines
  • Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated skill in providing mental health specific education
  • Demonstrated ability in the leadership and facilitation of change management.
