About the role: 

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, this role will provide direct person-centred nursing care and individual case management to patients on a shift-by-shift basis in a defined clinical area with increasing autonomy over time.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Actively engage in quality improvement initiatives focused on elevating patient safety, minimizing risks, and promoting safe work practices across the healthcare environment.
  • Manage the complex respiratory patient requiring Non-invasive ventilation in a supportive environment.
  • Have access to Respiratory education and a dedicated Respiratory workshop to enhance your knowledge and nursing skills.
  • Develop leadership capabilities by providing mentorship and guidance to less experienced team members, including Enrolled Nurses, student nurses, and staff delivering foundational nursing care.
  • Support the growth of nursing practice by mentoring students during clinical placements, guiding new staff through orientation processes, and offering preceptorship to new graduate nurses.

About you:

  • Strong communication skills, including expertise in problem-solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation, ensuring clear and constructive interactions with team members and patients.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate seamlessly within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to a cohesive and effective healthcare environment.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, with a current practicing certificate or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Proven track record in delivering high-quality, safe care that aligns with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.

This is a single vacancy, with three possible appointment classifications. The successful applicants will be appointed in the position appropriate to their skills, qualifications, and experience.

To be considered for the RN2C (Clinical Nurse) level you must have at least three years, full time equivalent, post registration experience with experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses, and less experienced registered nurses.
