About the Opportunity
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the CAMHS Connect (Triage) team as a Nurse Consultant, where you will be responsible for:
- Provides clinical leadership and mental health expertise within the team via a telephone based therapeutic triage assessment, generating a collaborative future treatment plan for clients accessing the CAMHS services.
- In partnership with other senior staff is responsible for day to day clinical leadership and organisation of CAMHS Connect.
- Uses their knowledge and experience to ensure best practice standards are achieved in relation to entry into CAMHS and is available to consult with other staff within the team around complex clinical presentations.
- Provides clinical supervision to level 2 staff.
- Works collaboratively and in partnership with a broad range of government, non-government and private practitioners/service providers, consumers and carers.
- Is accountable for the delivery of high quality care, which is consistent with the Department of Health & WCHN quality framework.
- The Nurse Consultant accepts accountability for the outcomes of the team’s practices in CAMHS Connect, for addressing inconsistencies between practice and policy and developing team performance and a positive work culture in the interest of patient/client outcomes.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate, enrolled in an approved Mental Health course or holds a qualification in mental health practice.
- Registered Nurse and or Midwife with at least 3 years post registration experience.
- Demonstrated competence in delivering proficient and comprehensive mental health nursing assessment and direct clinical services to children, young people and their families experiencing complex, acute or chronic mental illness/ trauma or a wide range of emotional and behavioural disturbance.
- Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet set timelines.
- Demonstrated ability to foster a workplace environment that develops staff potential
