About Jamestown Hospital and Health Service

Jamestown is a historic town located in South Australia’s Mid North, 220 kilometres north of Adelaide. Nestled along the banks of Belalie Creek and situated on the Crystal Brook-Broken Hill railway line, Jamestown is an important regional hub, connecting Adelaide and Perth to Sydney via the main interstate railway.

Jamestown is part of an agricultural region known for producing grain, legumes, wool, and timber. It’s also notable for the Bundaleer Forest, the site of the world’s first plantation forest, which was established in 1876. This forest has long been a symbol of the town’s role in pioneering forestry practices.

Today, Jamestown is a blend of historical charm and modern progress, with its agricultural roots and innovative energy projects contributing to its ongoing development and regional importance.
