About the role
The purpose of this Nurse Unit Manager role is to facilitate and provide nursing leadership, support, clinical supervision and mentoring within the nursing team and provide nursing resource, education and strategic management to facilitate the delivery of high-quality best practice care to the clients of the Renal Satellite Unit.
Skills and experience
- Ability to provide expert nursing leadership and coordination within a Renal Healthcare environment.
- Sound knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and theory and the ability to apply relevant legislation, guidelines and standards.
- Ability to integrate the strategic direction and priorities for quality improvement into the clinical service, establishing a quality framework.
- Advanced leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution and change management skills to ensure customer focused service provision amongst the multidisciplinary team.
- Understanding of teaching and learning in the health care environment (adult learning principles) with demonstrated clinical teaching and facilitation skills.
What’s on offer?
Permanent Full-time position.
Remuneration package of up to $164,696 p.a., comprising base salary range of $132,562 – $ 143,924 p.a. (+ applicable allowances/benefits) (Nurse Grade 7), recreational leave loading (17.5%), and employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%).
Eligible health workers who make the move (interstate or international) to work with us may receive up to $20,000 in incentive payments under the Queensland Health Workforce Attraction Incentive Scheme (conditions apply).

Role requirements
Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory. Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
Highly desirable
Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.
About the unit
The Renal Satellite Unit is comprised of a Haemodialysis Satellite Unit, Chronic Kidney Disease Service, Pre-Transplant, and Home Therapies Unit and is located at the North Ward Health Campus (NWHC), Townsville. Also encompassed within the service are the Palm Island and Home Hill Satellite dialysis units. The Nurse Unit Manager Renal Satellite position is located at the North Ward Health Campus in Townsville.
